WaveX Taste Buds work through retronasal olfaction. As mentioned previously, your tongue can taste sweetness, sourness, bitterness, saltiness, and umami (or savoriness), but you taste everything else through your nose.
Next time you eat something, like say a blueberry, close off your nasal passage when swallowing. You’ll find that while you can taste the sweetness and sourness, you won’t experience that blueberry taste until you exhale. The flavors you taste on exhale is what’s known as retronasal olfaction.
Each Taste Bud contains natural aromas extracted from real ingredients. These aromas are the naturally occurring volatile compounds found in things like fruit, coffee, and spices. We use the same FDA-approved, food-safe extraction processes that have long been used for extracting natural flavoring ingredients for your favorite foods.
This ensures each Taste Bud only contains compounds that you would naturally smell when eating. It’s no different than smelling a jar of coconut cream!
